Timely Return for H-F Big Man Williams

Vikings forward Tim Williams returned Friday night in Homewood-Flossmoor's win over Bolingbrook, and he should be a key contributor come playoff time.

Post players are always key in the playoffs. Good thing for Homewood-Flossmoor that forward Tim Williams is back in the lineup.

Williams, a 6-foot-7 junior, returned to action in over Bolingbrook on Friday night after being out since late November with an ankle injury. He contributed nine points in the victory.

“Having Tim Williams back is just a welcome addition,” H-F coach Jim McLaughlin said. “He’s really going to make a difference for us as we get into March.”

H-F guard David Fatoki said that with Williams back, the team is really gelling.

“We’re really high right now. We’re jacked up to play,” Fatoki said.

Despite Williams’ presence and a 14-point second-half lead for the Vikings, Bolingbrook fought back to get within four points.

“We made some terrible decisions with the basketball, threw it away,” McLaughlin said. “And then, obviously, our defense was pretty pathetic there down stretch. Those are things we have to learn from the game.”

Bolingbrook coach Rob Brost said his team is peaking.

“We’re right there, we’re playing our best basketball of the season, which is encouraging,” Brost said. “We just need to do a couple things and get over the top.”

Despite giving up five three-pointers Friday night, Brost said he can accept giving up contested three-pointers as opposed to allowing interior buckets.

“We were talking before the game that we were going to live with contested threes,” Brost said. “Some of them we contested. In the first half they made a bunch, but we stuck with our game plan, and sure enough we fought all the way back in.”
