IJP School Expands School Technology Opportunities

Infant Jesus of Prague School Expands School Technology Opportunities

Wireless internet access, two mobile laptop classrooms and various interactive digital projectors were part of the new technological opportunities afforded to teachers and students at . The technology materialized as a result of a need which was identified by Principal, Mr. Dan Smith during his first year as principal at IJP during the 2009-2010 School Year. Funds were identified during a process in which the IJP School community saw areas for development.

Infant Jesus of Prague’s Technology of the Past

While the technological expansion at Infant Jesus of Prague School was a move forward, the school began with a firm foundation. The upgrade expanded computer availability. “Time and space was limited prior to our technology upgrade,” stated Deborah Bohne, IJP Technology Coordinator, who had a hand in the planning and implementation of the process.

The school made strides to drive in the direction of academic excellence and innovation. It had a rich history of well-rounded excellence. Infant Jesus of Prague School was awarded the National Blue Ribbon Award in 1999 and 2004. The honor is the highest for any school in the U.S. and was granted through the U.S. Department of Education.

“Teachers are excited about the technology. They are aware of the potential to open doors for new learning experiences,” stated IJP Principal, Mr. Dan Smith. It opened up opportunities for web-based research projects and interactive lessons which increase student engagement. Web-based are one tool for tracking student progress and the upgrades made them more accessible.

The technology upgrade at Infant Jesus of Prague School opened opportunities for students to compete in a global and ever-changing society while they remained firmly grounded in Catholic values which Infant Jesus of Prague School was always known for within the South Suburban community.
