So how's the food and service? Giving it 5 stars for benefit of the doubt as I haven't dined there yet...

Are you only taking reservations? I heard from someone that the went there and were turned away, because they had no reservations!! And the parking lot was empty!! Is this what Homewood gave you $200,00 in Tiff money for? I give you a year!!

Lunch at COD for is a reasonably priced, rewarding experience. I found a mixed crowd of business people, lunch “ladies,” and retired friends on a recent visit with my dining companion. Our server greeted us enthusiastically and placed a small menu on the linen-topped table. A sign on the table informed that bread and water are available upon request and our silverware would be served with the food. The menu was varied but mainly in sandwich form. For each item, diners have their choice of frites or cucumber salad as a side. I ordered the “the lobster roll” and my companion the roasted vegetable sandwich; we both opted for the cucumber salad, which turned out to be light and refreshing. The lobster roll is not a traditional East Coast one, but nevertheless had huge chunks of freshly prepared lobster along with a light mayonnaise celery dressing served on a homemade croissant–– a very nice Midwest rendering of it. The roasted vegetable sandwich was served on homemade Focaccia bread with a mix of roasted red pepper, caramelized onion, spicy hummus and feta. She said that it was delicious (and healthy). The most surprising part of the lunch was the dessert, macrons. She said they compare favorably to NYC’s version of this “hot” new French cookie. We walked out with 3 very reasonably priced boxes to give as gifts. Sure, it costs a few dollars more than Panera or McDonalds, but for me, the quality of food, service, and ambience is worth it.

Hard to review something when it has not opened yet. What does $$$ mean, there should be a legend here somewhere. Also, I hope that this place doesn't try to be everything to everyone. Really hard to please everybody!! But I am really looking forward to its opening. We live in a fine-dining desert here on the south side.
