Confused/overwhelmed by judicial selections? Me too, who ever hears about judges? So you either guess, vote for all the candidates with the same ancestral names as your family, or you skip voting all together and ignore the whole 5 pages of candidates.
But you don't have to skip the voting - Chicago Bar Association puts together a very thorough judicial review of the candidates and finds if they are "highly qualified," "qualified" or "not recommended." They even offer a "cheat sheet" to bring to the polls with you.
It's the most non-biased review I have found, and voting for HQ or Q candidates beats guessing, or not voting at all. Here's the site:

Another excellent website is chicagocouncil.org which offers similar information. It gives the background and experience (or lack thereof, as the case may be) of each candidate plus the above mentioned rankings. If a candidate did not respond to the Chicago Council's questionnaire, then he/she automatically received a "not recommended" ranking. The summary sheet -- or "cheat sheet" as Wa Mama calls it -- is ideal for using on election day. With this information, you can be a much more informed voter and help put VERY QUALIFIED judges into office. Please consider taking the time to print out the evaluation sheet from either the Chicago Bar Assn or the Chicago Council of Lawyers and taking it with you this coming Tuesday.
