Amazing how you see the sewer lids blow off from the water on TV but people continue to walk andRead More play in the streets after floods!! Where do they think they go when they step into one of these uncovered sewers! DUH!!!!!!!

Two years ago i had an experience with Com.Ed I would like to share with you.The power went outRead More during a storm. A day later a Com Ed rep, not a repair crew, showed up and began to look over the problem.I got into an argument with her because she didn't even know which pole fed my block. At three am a tree trimming crew showed up but none of them spoke English! They were looking for the branch that had knocked the power line down.Problem was that there was no branch down.then three days after it went off a real repair crew just reset the fuse that had blown down the line.A simple fix totally screwed up because the ComEd rep did not have a clue.

I finally got power back Thursday night. As for their response, we'll get to you when we get to youRead More was a little unprofessional. as for the hike, it's stupid it sucks, but what's the point if fighting. they will find a way to get it, they always do.

Like many folks in HF, I put my downed branches/tree sections in my parkway. Does anyone know if ourRead More local government(s) will be picking up this debris or do we have to make arrangements ourself?

3rd note to ComEd: we put a man on the moon 45 years ago this month, and we can't figure out howRead More to keep the power on 24/7/365? Really???

When I moved to the US 37 years ago I was surprised to find out you can lose power.I came from aRead More country where everything is underground and lived in a house that was built in the 1600s. My husband said it was too expensive to put the lines underground at that time. If we start now and do a little every year maybe we can avoid this 30 years from now? It seems that all the damage storms cause and the losses people experience(spoiled food, dangerous situations for people who depend on electricity for medical reasons, flooded basements etc) can eventually be prevented by burying the lines. Plus it looks a lot nicer and you can avoid those awkwardly pruned trees. It the meantime Thank you to the ComEd workers who restored power to our area yesterday.

Will the villages be picking up the limbs and branches piled up at all the curbs, or what?
Colleen McAbee July 2, 2014 at 10:30 am

We don't often get storms of this character in Chicago-proper the magnitude of which gives us moreRead More than a concerned eye for those unprotected in the outskirts .

22 hours and counting. I'm definitely glad to have a generator and as active as the sump was lastRead More night it's been a good investment.
Mary July 2, 2014 at 10:53 am
So when they say to turn off all appliances does that mean unplug them too? And how do you connectRead More the sump pump to a generator or turn it back on after the power goes on if you can't do that while standing in the water of your flooded basement?
SHUSSBAR July 3, 2014 at 07:01 am
Note to ComEd :: Invest the money we give you every month to burry the lines as it is done in lot ofRead More countries. The investment will pay off. Less crews working crazy overtime nights week ends and holidays to repair down lines.
