I would be interested in hearing from the Editor of this article - Dennis Robaugh, as to why heRead More chose to use the word "girl" instead of woman or competitor.

Trying to distract from the fact that they have wild captured whales and dolphins in their poolsRead More that they kidnapped to exploit for money!

Learning how to take care of this whale species now will save it from extinction decades from nowRead More when their numbers are diminished through reckless hunting.

There are good reasons for certain institutions to capture wild creatures. WS mentioned one. ThatRead More said, there is the problem with over stocking of captured animals and not understanding them. Orcas are the primary example. Most orcas are not being captured for study but for profit. And when you have an 8 - 10 ton animal in an enclosed space your may have trouble - two trainers killed by the same orca. There are no recorded instances of orcas attacking humans in the wild - get one in a tank and even if the death is accidental you are still playing with fire - orcas are not dogs. They are highly intelligent creatures - actually the largest member of the dolphin family although their size resulted in their being termed "whale" many years ago and it has stuck. So I agree with both Gina and William on that subject. I am a little surprised that the Shedd is now expanding into a dog show as well. if that helps encourage people to adopt rescued dogs, great.

(20 ILCS 1605/2) (from Ch. 120, par. 1152) Sec. 2. This Act is enacted to implement andRead More establish within the State a lottery to be conducted by the State through the Department. The entire net proceeds of the Lottery are to be used for the support of the State's Common School Fund, except as provided in subsection (o) of Section 9.1 and Sections 21.2, 21.5, 21.6, 21.7, and 21.8. The annual salary of the Director is $142,000.

JR February 19, 2014 at 08:35 am
Ty, the even bigger political game was that the lottery was sold to ADD TO school funding. Instead,Read More what they did was to use the proceeds to REPLACE the existing funding. The net effect is the schools got about the same amount of money but the state got a huge windfall of new money (the old source of money that used to go to the schools) that they then used on port barrel spending to buy themselves more years at the public trough.

having seen it in it's development, this is an amazing production and it will be far moreRead More sophisticated than most could imagine from a group of teens. HOWEVER, IT IS NOT FREE. TALK is a not for profit that uses proceeds from its events and productions to fund their next event or production. Tickets are $5 via the website before the show http://www.talksouthland.org/art--talk-products-for-sale-including-thanatos-tickets.html or $6 at the door.
Aurelio's is the number 1 top rated restaurant in Homewood and Flossmoor, according to Yelp. Do you agree?
Kristen Gonzalez Vanderhei August 3, 2013 at 03:03 pm
Maybe some of those restaurants made the list because there just aren't that many good places toRead More choose from. Ones I would not have included- Aurelio's, Grady's & Asian Harbor. I think what this list really shows us is that there is a lack of truly good places to eat here.
