The Village of Flossmoor is governed by the Village President, or Mayor, and a six-member Board of Trustees. TheMore Trustees, Mayor, and Village Clerk are elected at-large to four-year terms and the Mayor and Trustees are responsible for setting all policies for the Village as well as enacting municipal laws that govern the Village of Flossmoor.

The Village works to serve the community through the administration of its operations and liaison to the Village Board as well as being responsible for for its finances. In addition, it oversees all building and construction services and the major utilities and infrastructure of the Village, including its water delivery, stormwater and wastewater dispensation, roads, sidewalks, and forestry. It is also responsible for fire prevention and fighting, operating Emergency Medical Services and all safety and emergency activities in the Village.

Established in 1964, Village Artists is a place where people can work on art alone, or in a group. Village ArtistsMore strives to enlighten the community's interest in art. Instructors currently working there include Claire Wiest and Marikay Whitlock.

The Village of Homewood has a Board of Trustees that consists of six Trustees, a Village President and a VillageMore Clerk, all of whom are elected to four-year terms. A Village Manager, appointed by the President and Board, executes the governing body's directives and provides background information and analyses for the President and Board to make its decisions. The Village Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Village.

The Village of Homewood is comprised of several departments. The Community Development Department administers the Village's planning, zoning, subdivision ordinances and is responsible for building inspections. 

The Finance Department directs all financial operations of the Village, including payroll, budgeting, financial reporting, risk management, business and liquor licensing and processing freedom of information requests, among other things. 

The Public Works Department is responsible for a variety of initiatives, including water distribution, maintenance of most public streets, snow removal from streets, maintenance of traffic signals, traffic control signs and street signs.

The Fire Department provides fire suppression, emergency medical, hazardous materials mitigation and rescue services to all locations in Homewood. 

The Homewood Police Department is responsible for the enforcement of all state laws and most municipal laws in the Village.
