Homewood Village President Richard Hofeld and the village trustees will meet at Homewood Village Hall on Tuesday, Jan. 8 at 7:30 p.m. Long-time Librarian to be Recognized Village President Hofeld and the Homewood trustees will honor long-time Homewood librarian Cindy Rauch on her retirement after serving local residents for 30 years. Homewood PTA Turns 100 Mayor Hofeld and the village trustees will recognize the 100th anniversary of the Homewood parent-teacher association. Thomas Heyne to be Honored for 20 Years of Police Service Village President Hofeld and the village trustees will honor Thomas Heyne for 20 years of service to the Homewood Police Department.

A teacher redistribution may soon be underway at Flossmoor School District 161 if tonight's board votes to give the go-ahead to a proposed plan.
Many parents are on edge after news of a controversial teacher redistribution that may be in the works for Flossmoor schools. The Flossmoor School District 161 board is scheduled to vote on the matter tonight at its regular board meeting. Logistics of the redistribution remained unclear Monday around 1:30 p.m. However a letter forwarded from Western Avenue building chairs to parents indicated that officials are discussing moving several teachers to other schools for various strategic reasons, such as a new technology initiative. "Supt. (Craig) Doster believes the decision is in the district's best interests," the letter said. Mayor Paul Braun and the Flossmoor Village Council will meet tonight, Monday, March 5, at 7:30 p.m. There will be time allotted for public participation and comments. Included in tonight’s agenda is a proposal from Western Avenue School to create a new parking lot and driveway layout that relieves congestion during drop off and pick up times. In the creation of the modified parking lots, Western Avenue School plans on redesigning it’s playground area as well with an aim to reduce paved area, increase green space and eliminate existing connectivity with the north and south parking lots, according to Flossmoor Village Manager Bridget Wachtel.
