Sweet Annie’s Reroutes Homewood Move to Flossmoor

After weeks of negotiation and several prior plans, Sweet Annie’s will be moving into a neighbor’s location in downtown Flossmoor.

Despite prior claims, Sweet Annie’s Bakery will not be moving to Homewood. The decision came after a rental agreement with Homewood landlords fell through, reports Sun-Times Media. Rather, Sweet Annie’s will move into the vacated spot of Her Closet Boutique, once owner Rose Demko packs up to move to Homewood’s Cherry Creek Plaza. At 1,400 square feet, the new Sweet Annie’s will be considerably larger in size. The menu will also expand, as the new facility will include contraptions to create even more diverse treats. Since her decision to move, owner Anne Aboushousha has been torn between a variety of different plans, ranging from the Homewood move to maintaining multiple locations. The most recent opportunity to stay in Flossmoor and move …

Sweet Annie’s Bakery Not Staying in Flossmoor

A rental disagreement is responsible for the recent decision, although details are peculiarly vague.

After a back-and-fourth series of events, Sweet Annie’s Bakery will not be staying in Flossmoor after all. A rental disagreement between owner Anne Aboushoush and landlord Dean Armstrong is apparently to blame, but there are not many details beyond that. “We’re sorry we couldn’t work things out. We’re sorry to see her leave,” Armstrong said. “I wish she’d stay.” The only official comment Sweet Annie’s is making is in the form of a written statement given to employees to read to anyone who asks about the situation. It reads: Due to a misunderstanding regarding how long we are able to remain in the Flossmoor location, we will be moving to Homewood, not expanding as previously planned. We are sorry for any disappointment this may cause you. …

Shouldnt we be celebrating these businesses being successful enough to grow?! Shouldnt we be thankful they are just moving a few minutes away instead of closing their doors for good?! Are we not HF? Homewood-Flossmoor work together to keep the beautiful community we currently have! Has anyone been in Sweet Annie's in the warmer weather? These ladies are going to have heat stroke. There isnt …   more ›

Sweet Annie’s Strikes Deal to Remain in Flossmoor

The beloved bakery announced plans to expand into a larger Homewood location last week, but a new deal will keep a scaled down, kid-oriented version of the shop at the current Flossmoor location.

Flossmoor Mayor Paul Braun entered Sweet Annie’s Bakery last Saturday on a mission. “He was very adamant about not wanting to lose (the bakery),” owner Anne Aboushousha said. “He asked, ‘What can we do?’” Braun told Patch he’s been hard at work trying to facilitate a rental agreement between Aboushousha and her current landlord Dean Armstrong so that she could keep her current shop. Last week, Aboushousha announced plans to move Sweet Annie’s Bakery to Homewood. Despite the move, Aboushousha told Patch she was looking to keep the old Sweet Annie’s open, should she reach agreeable terms with Armstrong. A deal was reached Tuesday afternoon. “We care very much about our businesses,” Braun said. “The village has and will continue to assist in …

Sweet Annie's Bakery Moving To Homewood

The new location will be in the former Thai Rickshaw building in downtown Homewood.

Anne “Sweet Annie” Aboushousha spent all day Jan. 10 tracking around town, going from business to business to personally announce her decision to move Sweet Annie’s Bakery to 18102 Martin Avenue in Homewood, the former location of Thai Rickshaw. She also went to Twisted Q BBQ and Bakery on Ridge Road to break the news herself. “I really wanted to tell the people I care about directly,” Aboushousha said. “It was important for me to do that. I was really nervous.” Aboushousha made the snap decision last week, but it’s been two years since she realized some sort of transition was inevitable. “I was getting panic attacks when it gets really busy in the shop,” Aboushousha said. And then there is the matter of parking. Aboushousha recently spoke…

I'm sorry, William, that you are so dense you can't actually see the problems that forced Annie to move to another location. It is truly hard being you.   more ›
