Start-to-Finish: Video Slideshow of In-Ground Pool Construction

What started out as a dirty hole in the ground is now a vacation destination. Take one last look here at the process of building a 20x44 in-ground pool at the Hufnagl residence in New Lenox.

In late April, the Aqua Pools team arrived at the Hufnagl residence in New Lenox with heavy-duty equipment and charge: to build a 20x44 in-ground pool for the homeowners. The guys on the crew started by digging a big hole. Six weeks later, the Hufnagls are enjoying a vacation destination in their back yard. No one is more excited than 8-year-old Autumn Hufnagl. "She loved it," said her father, Andy, of the moment she plunged into the water for the first time. "She loves being able to wake up and jump in her pool and have her friends over and enjoy the summer time. "Her first time—I believe she went in off the slide here." To mark the occasion, the Hufnagls let Autumn leave her handprints in the concrete on the side of the pool. The whole …

Step 3: Video/Photo Gallery Look at Pool Construction

During the final phase of construction of an in-ground pool at the Hufnagl residence in New Lenox, the Aqua Pools team installed the liner and hooked up the filtration system. Splash! Then, it was time for the neighborhood kids to jump in the water.

Cool. The pool is open. During the third phase of construction on a 20x44 in-ground pool at the Hufnagl residence in New Lenox, the Aqua Pools team installed the liner, hooked up the filtration system and dropped in a couple of other goodies, including a slide and diving board. Soon after that, a neighborhood pool party broke out. (Thank goodness, the landscapers and fence crew guys kept up their end of the bargain.) “Absolutely, we got everything ready right on time for the warm weather,” said Jim Eiler Jr., vice president and chief salesman for Aqua Pools, a family-run business that operates throughout the Southland. Got goggles? “It’s been a project, but it went pretty smooth,” said Andy Hufnagl, a 38-year-old lieutenant with the Alsip …

Step 2: Video/Photo Gallery Look at Pool Construction

During the second phase of pool construction at the Hufnagl residence in New Lenox, the pool base is going down—85-100 bags of Pool-Krete—in preparation for the liner to be installed on top by the Aqua Pools team.

Andy Hufnagl and his wife, Angela, decided to put a 20x44 in-ground pool in their back yard, in part so their daughter, Autumn, could train and play with her friends. Autumn is a member of the Lincoln-Way Gators swim team. The Hufnagls live in New Lenox. During the second phase of construction, the Aqua Pools team spent a day putting the pool base down in preparation for the liner to be installed on top. The job of troweling—spreading 85-100 bags of Pool-Krete—fell on the shoulders of Tom Eiler. He said he has worked on more than 1,400 pool projects since Aqua Pools opened for business in 1978. Jim Eiler Jr. serves as vice president and chief salesman for the family-run business, which operates throughout the Southland. "After the liner is…

Very supportive parents indeed! To have built a swimming pool especially for their daughter to train in the comforts of their own backyard is a great idea and encourage her daughter to perform even better as the day goes by. Looks like aquapools is a good team of pool builders to engage because of their good reputation. - http://www.metzlerhomebuilders.com   more ›

Aqua Pools Team Diggin' Job of Summer Fun

When Jim Eiler and his Aqua Pools team arrives to begin the first phase of installing an in-ground pool, a buzz of excitement circulates throughout the neighborhood. Their heavy equipment turns a few heads.

On Easter Sunday, 8-year-old Autumn Hufnagl discovered a few surprises tucked in with the chocolates in her Easter basket. “The Easter Bunny brought her some pool supplies,” said Autumn’s father, Andy, a lieutenant paramedic with the Alsip fire department and resident of New Lenox. “The bunny knew about the pool.” Hippity-hop. The pool. The Hufnagls decided to have a 20x44 in-ground pool installed in their back yard earlier this year. The crew at Aqua Pools started the first stage of work on the project on Tuesday, April 24. And life as the Hufnagls knew it changed the minute backhoe operator Dave Cheatle scooped the first giant shovel of dirt into a dump truck parked on their lawn. Aqua Pools has its own arsenal of heavy-duty machinery …
