Wendell Mosby has been temporarily stripped of his travel reimbursement privileges after he walked out of a board meeting and took the quorum with him.
Prairie State College Trustee Wendell Mosby will be traveling on his own dime, at least until he gets his boardroom behavior under control. The trustee was censured at the board's Dec. 4 meeting, losing his travel reimbursement privileges indefinitely, according to fellow trustee Marc A. Wiley Sr. The punishment came as a result of Mosby strategically walking out of a meeting. At the Oct. 30 public board meeting, Mosby was one of only four board members to show up out of the seven. When a board policy on nepotism in employment came up for discussion and vote, Mosby voiced his disapproval, according to the minutes. A preview of what's on the agenda for the village of Homewood's Tuesday night's board meeting. Flossmoor's board meeting this week has been cancelled.
Homewood Village President Richard Hofeld and the village trustees will meet at Homewood Village Hall on Tuesday, May 22 at 7:30 a.m. Among the agenda items is a discussion on the request for a Class 14 liquor license for Grapes & Grain Co., a potential new "craft beer and boutique wine establishment" to be located at 18031 Dixie Highway (this location was recently featured in out "What Should Go Here?" feature). Also on the agenda is the announcement of the retirement of Homewood Police Officers Dale Gustafson and Paul Poinski. Officer William Rolle will be commended for doing exceptional work—notably leading to seven recent felony charges of residentail burglary. Flossmoor's Monday night board meeting has been cancelled.

Both Homewood and Flossmoor have regular village business meetings scheduled this week.
FLOSSMOOR Flossmoor Mayor Paul Braun and the Flossmoor Village Council will meet Monday, May 7 at 7:30 p.m. for a regular village business meeting. Among other things, the village board will be discussing zoning variations, the bid award contract for new strightlights for the central business district and the repainting of Meinheit Water Tower. The will also be a public forum held regarding a proposed governance plan for the electrical aggregation program. A review of items discussed at the March 14 Flossmoor School District 161 board meeting.
The Flossmoor School District 161 board approved a strategic plan which will look at factors such as buildings and finances and determine their positive or negative impact on student achievement. The plan, which is a first for the board, was worked on by community members, administrators, teachers and board members. It will be posted on School District 161's website for those who would like to review it. District Audit: After reviewing the presented audit, the board was encouraged to look into potentially employing an internal auditor. After weighing the pros and cons, the board decided that the most sensible option was to continue working with an independent auditing agency.
