Despite several setbacks, the long-anticipated Homewood restaurant is officially opening its doors to the public this Saturday, Jan. 26.
The Cottage On Dixie owners Glenna and Dudley Elvery were kind enough to invite Patch over Monday night to get a sneak preview of the Southland’s newest fine dining experience. It certainly lived up to the hype. The restaurant is scheduled to open to the public for the first time on Saturday, Jan. 26, but don't expect to get in that easliy. General Manager Robert Burt says they've already secured over 200 reservations. If you're anxious to give it a try, he recommends calling at 708.798.8263 to book a table in advance. The Cottage on Dixie will feature a monthly rotational menu with each month focusing on a different part of the world.
Several new details on Homewood’s upcoming fine dining restaurant, The Cottage on Dixie, were revealed by owner Glenna Elvery during Homewood’s June 26 Village Board meeting. READ: Fine Dining Headed for Homewood A general manager, chef and assistant manager have all been hired, according to Elvery, but the names of all three are still under wraps in order to protect the security of their current jobs. Despite the secrecy, however, Elvery said the general manager has five years experience and the head chef has ran six previous restaurants. “We are going to be a very expensive restaurant,” Elvery said. “Our food is all gourmet. Olympia Fields residents Glenna and Dudley Elvery are the force behind Homewood's upcoming restaurant, The Cottage on Dixie.
At the time Patch announced the forthcoming of Homewood’s newest fine dining restaurant, “The Cottage on Dixie,” the owners of the new business remained a mystery. After nearly three months of mild speculation, local philanthropists Glenna and Dudley Elvery have come forward as owners of the anticipated restaurant.
