The junior wrestling program for grade school boys and girls announced open registration at Marian Catholic, Sept. 22 and 23. The cost of registration is $100, and covers the entire season.
The season might be a few months away, but that doesn't mean the HF Spartan Elite Wrestling Program is resting on its laurels and counting on new members to find the team themselves. Instead, the club is aggressively pursuing new and returning members for the upcoming season, which kicks off in October. Registration will be held at Marian Catholic High School, on Sept. 22 and 23. The program runs through March. Registration for the club, which is open to boys and girls in grade school, costs $100 and covers the entire cost of the season. The plans for a $4 million renovation project for the Flossmoor Metra station are now on hold, as Metra is being forced to send the project back out to bid, following the original bidder's inability to complete the project.
Following the announcement of a planned $4 million renovation project to the Flossmoor Metra station in July of last year, plans were derailed after the original bidder for the project couldn't follow through on their bid. After ZCORP Services, who was the low bidder for the project, was unable to hold their end of the bargain, Metra is again planning to put the project out to bid. “Long story short, ZCORP was unable to meet its obligations to be awarded the bid,” said Michael Gillis, spokesperson for Metra. “So, we're going to go out to bid again. That is the process we're in now.” Although the former low bidder couldn't complete the project, Gillis said that Metra still has plans to complete the renovations to the station and will put …

The Cherry Creek Plaza is home to several businesses that serve the Homewood-Flossmoor community, from Starbucks to Panera and several local shops as well. Starting on May 15, both Homewood and Flossmoor residents will not be allowed to water their lawns for most of the day, until September 15.
Crimp your hose, Homewood-Flossmoor area residents, water restrictions are returning. Beginning on Wednesday, May 15, residents in both villages will need to begin following their respective village's water conservation rules. In Homewood, residents are not allowed to use sprinklers to water their lawns or shrubs, between the hours of 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. May 15 to September 15. However, watering systems such as low-volume drip, spray or bubble emitters, or hand-held hoses are allowed. Flossmoor residents must follow similar rules for the village's lawn sprinkling ban, which also goes into effect May 15. The Cook County Department of Homeland Security & Emergency Management is asking residents to fill out a flooding damage survey at the village hall or public works facility. The survey will be used to assess the amount of flood damage county-wide.
Following the heavy rains and flooding earlier this week, the village of Flossmoor and Cook County are asking residents to report any flooding damage or losses in a survey available at the village hall or Flossmoor Public Works building. The survey does not guarantee any money for Flossmoor, or its residents, it is simply an inquiry from the Cook County Department of Homeland Security & Emergency Management to assess if the $18 million threshold was met countywide. Residents are encouraged to fill out the survey at either the Flossmoor Village Hall or Flossmoor Public Works Building by the end of the business day Friday, April 26.
