MONDAY, MARCH 11 A rifle magazine containing .223-caliber ammo was found in the 18900 block of Harding Avenue. The woman who reported the ammo told police she discovered it lying in her yard. SUNDAY, MARCH 17 Two 9mm bullet casings were found on the ground near a soccer net at Flossmoor Hills Elementary School, according to a report. A man walking his dog at about 11 a.m found the casings. Police had received a report of shots fired on March 15 in the area of 707 Elm St., which is located across the street from the school. Flossmoor police reports, Feb. 28 to March 3.
THURSDAY, FEB. 28 Jelena Odak, 37, of the 10000 block of South Homan Avenue, Evergreen Park, was charged with DUI and improper lane use, according to a Flossmoor police report. Police allegedly spotted Odak's black Ford SUV crossing the center line and weaving in the lanes, striking the curb at least twice. She was stopped at about 9 a.m. on Vollmer Road. According to police, Odak reportedly had an odor of alcohol on her breath and slurred her speech. She told police she was unable to perform field sobriety tests. A tip led police to Blake Springsteen, who is now in the custody of the Cook County Sheriff’s Department.
Flossmoor police caught fugitive Blake Springsteen of unincorporated Cook County earlier this evening thanks to a tip called in by a local resident, according to a notification sent by the department. Police have been on the lookout for Springsteen since Monday evening after he reportedly stabbed his mother. Springsteen is now in the custody of the Cook County Sheriff’s Department. His mother is reported in stable condition at a south suburban hospital. Police believe the 22-year-old beat his 46-year-old mother, bound her and stuffed her into the trunk of a car, then drove her to Crete, stabbed her repeatedly and left her in a ditch. The Cook County Sheriff’s police launched a full-fledged manhunt for an alleged domestic battery offender Monday night.
Cook County Sheriff’s Police have been combing through Flossmoor for the past several hours for a man allegedly involved in a domestic battery case on the 3600 block of Flossmoor Road. Both helicopters and canine units have been involved in the search. The man is described as white, 245 pounds and 6 feet tall, with brown eyes. He is considered dangerous. Residents are advised to take basic safety precautions as police pursue investigation. This includes turning on outdoor lighting and locking external doors. Purchases were made for $1,004.64 and $204.64 at Walmart, as well as three other purchases, the woman told police. FRIDAY, MARCH 9 After a wallet containing bank information and a Social Security card was stolen from a man from the 800 block of Elm Street in Flossmoor, unauthorized transactions totaling $2,964 showed up on his account days later, according to police. WEDNESDAY, DEC. 27 A car owner told police that a 23-year-old Chicago Heights woman may have scratched her car with a hammer while it was parked in 3000 block of Kathleen Lane on Dec. 26 around 1 a.m. The owner said she was inside her friend’s house when her car alarm went off but didn’t find the scratches until later. According to police, her friend went outside to investigate and warned the Chicago Heights woman to leave or she’d call police. A day later the car owner complained to police of receiving threatening text messages from the Chicago Heights woman.
