Former Flossmoor police officer Larry Hall was fired in 2009 after lying about having sex in his patrol vehicle while on duty.
A federal appeals panel says former Flossmoor police officer Larry Hall failed to prove his firing was race-related in court Monday, reports the Chicago Tribune. The 38-year-old was relieved of his duties in 2009 after he twice lied to supervisors about having sex with a recent Homewood-Flossmoor High School graduate in his patrol vehicle while on duty. Prior to his termination, Hall had been reprimanded for napping in his squad car behind a park district building and for leaving his stun gun unattended on a table at the police station. Hall also used a police instant-messaging system to send inappropriate texts. One reportedly referred to Flossmoor residents as "Flossmorons." A third residential burglary occurred on the 1400 block of Cambridge Ave. on Thursday, Jan. 24 according to police.
Flossmoor police are on alert after yet another residential burglary occurred in what seems to be a pattern, according to a release from the department. A break-in on the 1400 block of Cambridge Ave. sometime between 5:45 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 24 matches the description of two additional recent residential burglaries in the same neighborhood, according to police. Police are increasing patrols in this Flossmoor neighborhood after two potentially related home burglaries occurred last week.
Flossmoor police are on the lookout for the cuplrit or cuplrits behind two recent home burglies, according to a release from the department. The fist break-in was on the 1300 block of Dartmouth Rd. between 8 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. on Jan. 11, police say. Nobody was home when the burglar(s) stole electronics and personal items, according to the release. Police say a potentially related burglary happened on the 2000 block of Oxford Court on Jan. 15, also between 8 a.m. and 8:30 a.m.—two blocks away from the other break-in. With the help of a canine unit, Flossmoor Police are working to track down a man police say is responsible for robbing a Flossmoor resident at gunpoint on the evening of Nov. 8.
Flossmoor Police are searching for an armed man who robbed a Flossmoor resident at gunpoint yesterday as he was returning from work, said Flossmoor Deputy Police Chief Mike Pulec. The robbery occurred around 6:50 p.m. on the 1600 block of Princeton Road, according to the report. Police say the robber approached the resident as he was entering his garage and demanded his wallet while brandishing a handgun. The man gave over his wallet and the robber fled eastbound, the report said. Police enlisted the help of a canine unit to search for the armed robber last night, but Pulec said there were no results.
