Parker Junior High Parents Prep for High School

Homewood-Flossmoor High School administrators offered advice to the Flossmoor School District 161 PTO about students' transition to high school.

The Class of 2015 will start high school this fall, but their parents are being schooled now. At the Jan. 13 meeting of the Flossmoor School District 161 Parent Teacher Organization, Homewood-Flossmoor Community High School administrators presented a program for parents of Parker Junior High School students to advise them of the opportunities in their children's upcoming high school career. Parker Junior High will graduate 332 students this year, most of whom will go on to Homewood-Flossmoor High. With freshman year being the “most critical year of high school,” according to Principal Ryan Pitcock, the district is emphasizing that parents should select freshman courses that prepare students for Advance Placement coursework during their …
