The proposed legislation calls for a strict, four-year started program.
A medical marijuana bill passed the Illinois House Human Services Committee in an 11-4 vote last Wednesday, the Telegraph reports. It will now go to the entire House for consideration. The legislation calls for a strict, four-year starter program. Only patients over the age of 18 years and diagnosed with a specific terminal or debilitating disease would be eligible to participate. Background checks would also be part of the screening process. While some legislators have expressed concern that medical marijuana would encourage recreational use, a recent poll revealed the vast majority of Illinois voters support the idea. Get the rest of the story from the Telegraph.

You hit the nail on the head Mike. Like anything, it's all about the money. If only our politicians would realize legalization would result in so many opportunities for cost reductions and increased revenue if done correctly. >reduce Jail populations, court room costs, allow police to focus on real criminals, develop new technologies for testing (like breathalyzers for alcohol) Increased revenue …   more ›
