Police are increasing patrols in this Flossmoor neighborhood after two potentially related home burglaries occurred last week.
Flossmoor police are on the lookout for the cuplrit or cuplrits behind two recent home burglies, according to a release from the department. The fist break-in was on the 1300 block of Dartmouth Rd. between 8 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. on Jan. 11, police say. Nobody was home when the burglar(s) stole electronics and personal items, according to the release. Police say a potentially related burglary happened on the 2000 block of Oxford Court on Jan. 15, also between 8 a.m. and 8:30 a.m.—two blocks away from the other break-in. Nobody was home during the time of the burglary. Flossmoor police say they've beefed up patrol in these areas. The juvenile was walking alone when a group of unknown men attacked without provocation, according to reports.
A juvenile was beaten and robbed while walking westbound along the 2400 block of Alexander Rd. around 11:15 p.m. on Sept. 29, according to police. Police say a group of three to four unknown black males snuck up behind the juvenile when one asked, “Can I borrow five dollars?” The juvenile replied, “No,” without turning around, reports say. One of the assailants then hit the juvenile in the back of the head with an unknown object, causing him to fall to the ground where he was knocked unconscious by additional pummeling, police say. The attackers then snatched the juvenile’s iPhone and $100 in cash before fleeing the scene, according to reports. Homewood police reports: Aug. 18-20
MONDAY, AUG. 20 Several juveniles were charged with criminal trespassing after they were caught rummaging through a garage on the 18200 block of Dolphin Lake Drive around 4:30 p.m, according to police. Nothing was taken or damaged. A juvenile was charged with theft and resisting an officer after stealing another juvenile's skateboard behind Willow School just after 10:30 a.m., according to police. The report says the juvenile claimed she thought the skateboard was hers, but that wasn't enough to deter police. According to the report, the juvenile attempted to resist arrest. SUNDAY, JULY 29 Darren Jackson, 49, and Shelonda Tagget, 47, both of 62 Ash Street in Park Forest, were each charged with retail theft at 11:10 a.m. The two allegedly placed items into a plastic shopping bag and left a grocery store in the 17700 block of Halsted Street without paying the $83.88 they owed. Police apprehended them about a block away where Jackson and Tagget admitted they had taken merchandise from other area stores, according to the police report. Homewood police reports, July 25 - 27
FRIDAY, JULY 27 Todd Butler, 22, of the 1800 block of Maple Road, Homewood, was charged with criminal damage to property at 12:15 a.m. after he put a hole in a bathroom door by punching it with his fist. Butler had reportedly been drinking before returning home to his parents’ house where he lives. He threw books, papers and CDs all over the house, according to the police report. Homewood Police dealt with three cases involving marijuana possession over the past week.
THURSDAY, JULY 19 Geoff Thomas, 18, 19013 Center Avenue, Homewood, was charged with possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting a peace officer. Police investigating three males in a parked car near Thomas’s home at 10:36 p.m., smelled marijuana and spotted a grinder and a glass pipe on the lap of one of the passengers, and a bottle of tequila in the vehicle. Thomas resisted arrest by tensing up and pulling away so police wrestled him to the ground then handcuffed him, according to the police report. The driver of the vehicle was charged with possession of alcohol by a minor.
