H-F Students, Flossmoor Art Commission Install Statue at Flossmoor Public Library

Homewood-Flossmoor High School students and the Flossmoor Art Commission installed 'Bell Tower,' a statue commemorating Flossmoor's education history. The installation was attended by local dignitaries, residents and even Mayor Paul Braun.

After a year of planning, design and construction, the Flossmoor Public Library now has a new statue to call its own, thanks to the Flossmoor Art Comission and Homewood-Flossmoor High School art students. The statue, which is called 'Bell Tower,' was dedicated May 19, during a ceremony which was attended by Flossmoor Mayor Paul Braun, village trustees, the students responsible for the statue and several members of the Homewood-Flossmoor High School District board of education, along with local residents. Tax Levy Public Meeting: On the Agenda

A preview of what's going to be discussed and voted on during Flossmoor's Dec. 3 village board meeting.

Flossmoor Mayor Paul Braun and the village trustees will meet at Flossmoor Village Hall on Monday, Dec. 3 at 7:30 p.m. In accordance with legal requirements, village officials will use time during tonight's board meeting to hold a public meeting on the village's proposed estimated capped tax increase. The estimated 2012 levy, as approved by the board in November, is 5.28 percent higher than in 2011. Mayor Paul Braun will be required to explain why the estimated capped levy is greater than 105 percent of last year's. Village Manager Bridget Wachtel, along with the help of village staff will present a mid-year analysis of Flossmoor's financial situation as it compares to the fiscal year 2013 budget.
