Despite several setbacks, the long-anticipated Homewood restaurant is officially opening its doors to the public this Saturday, Jan. 26.
The Cottage On Dixie owners Glenna and Dudley Elvery were kind enough to invite Patch over Monday night to get a sneak preview of the Southland’s newest fine dining experience. It certainly lived up to the hype. The restaurant is scheduled to open to the public for the first time on Saturday, Jan. 26, but don't expect to get in that easliy. General Manager Robert Burt says they've already secured over 200 reservations. If you're anxious to give it a try, he recommends calling at 708.798.8263 to book a table in advance. After three years of business, the Homewood restaurant is calling it quits.
Thai Rickshaw restaurant announced today on their Facebook page they plan on closing after three years of business. Remorseful comments are already accumulating under the sad announcement: Patch has been unable to reach owner Peter Soraghan for comment. Thai Rickshaw's last day will be Saturday, Dec. 29.

A few weeks ago, we asked Homewood and Flossmoor residents to provide suggestions for Just Turkey Restaurant located at Ridge Road and Halsted Street. Now, owner Brian Latman responds with a special message to Patch readers.
A few weeks ago, Patch asked residents for suggestions on how to help the delectible, but struggling restaurant Just Turkey located at 17947 Halsted Street. Since then, many of you provided advice in our comments section, and owner Brian Latman has been carefully listening. In fact, the long time Homewood residents has already implemented changes based on Patch reader suggestions including. The Cottage on Dixie will feature a monthly rotational menu with each month focusing on a different part of the world.
Several new details on Homewood’s upcoming fine dining restaurant, The Cottage on Dixie, were revealed by owner Glenna Elvery during Homewood’s June 26 Village Board meeting. READ: Fine Dining Headed for Homewood A general manager, chef and assistant manager have all been hired, according to Elvery, but the names of all three are still under wraps in order to protect the security of their current jobs. Olympia Fields residents Glenna and Dudley Elvery are the force behind Homewood's upcoming restaurant, The Cottage on Dixie.
At the time Patch announced the forthcoming of Homewood’s newest fine dining restaurant, “The Cottage on Dixie,” the owners of the new business remained a mystery. After nearly three months of mild speculation, local philanthropists Glenna and Dudley Elvery have come forward as owners of the anticipated restaurant.
