Attempted Home Ruse Burglary on Hood Avenue

The plot was foiled thanks to a Homewood resident's suspicions, according to police reports.

A Homewood resident foiled an attempted two-man ruse burglary at his Hood Ave. home on Wednesday, Dec. 26, according to police. Police say a grey car parked in the man’s driveway around 3 p.m. and a man exited, claiming to be a new neighbor. The resident invited the “neighbor” inside, but quickly grew suspicious as the stranger tried to persuade him to go to the back of the house, according to the report. As the resident protested, another man made a surprise entrance through the front door, police said. Reports say the resident “started screaming at the offenders to get out of the house” and the two strangers fled westbound on Linden Road. Ruse Burglary, Teenage Thievery: Homewood Police Blotter

TUESDAY, APRIL 17 Charee Taylor, 22, of the 500 block of Winneconna Parkway in Chicago was charged with retail theft. Police said Taylor loaded a shopping cart with more than $400 worth of electrical wire and replaced the price tags with those of items totaling only $19. She was stopped and arrested after using the self-checkout lane, around 2 p.m., according to the report. MONDAY, APRIL 16 A couple living in the 1800 block of Evergreen Road were the latest victims of a ruse type residential burglary.
