Support H-F Teachers on World Teachers' Day

Give back to local teachers by celebrating World Teachers' Day on Oct. 5.

World Teachers' Day, celebrated on Oct. 5, is a great opportunity to show teachers in Districts 161, 153 and 233 how great you think they are. Our hearts go with Mrs.Joan Mahler of Dist.161. She taught at Western Av. for many years before being transfered to Heather Hill. Mrs.Mahler has the unique gift of 'gentle authority'. She teaches her subjects with finesse and quietly instills diplomacy, self acceptance, self worth, self preservation, respect, love and acceptance in her students. Always a smile, never a raised voice. She's amazing…   more ›

Back to School: Send Patch Your Pics

It's the first day of school for most Homewood and Flossmoor students this week! Share your favorite back to school photos on Patch.

The first day of school is always a rush: Pick out the right outfit, pack up your supplies and get to the bus stop on time. But there's always a moment to freeze time and capture the memory by taking a back-to-school photo. Today, elementary school students in Homewood School District 153 are arriving for the first day of class. Flossmoor School District 161, St. Joseph's Catholic School and Infant Jesus of Prague School kids had their first day back yesterday. The H-F High School students went back last week. Celebrate the first day of school by contributing to our gallery. It's easy to share photos on Patch; just follow the directions below:  Like H-F Patch on Facebook
