SUNDAY, FEB. 17 Sean Smith, 46, of the 18900 block of Birch, Country Club Hills, was charged with retail theft, according to a Homewood police report. An officer met with a loss prevention officer at Jewel-Osco, 3153 183rd St., who spoke with police about an alcohol theft. Sean Smith was allegedly seen hiding a bottle of Amsterdam gin in his jacket, according to the report. He then tried to leave the store before he was stopped by employees. TUESDAY, OCTOBER 16 A man was cited for possession of 4.9 grams of cannabis around 10:08 a.m. at the intersection of Dixmoor Drive and Spruce Road after an officer saw him walking up to several parked vehicles on the street and in driveways. According to the report, the man became agitated when the officer stopped him and spoke with him. When the officer patted the man down for weapons, he felt a bulge in his sweatshirt pocket and was informed that it was a small amount of weed. The officer found one hand-rolled cigarette filled with a green leafy substance suspected to be cannabis and a clear plastic bag containing six smaller clear plastic bags filled with the same substance. SUNDAY, OCTOBER 14 A woman from the 18400 block of Morris Ave. told police that a black Apple iPhone 4 was stolen from the kitchen table in her home sometime between 4:00 p.m. on Oct. 13 and 7:00 p.m. on Oct. 14. According to the report, the phone did not have service because the woman had replaced it with a new phone. She told police she suspected a friend of a friend in the matter, saying that he had been in the house on the evening of Oct. 13 and had access to the kitchen area. FRIDAY, OCTOBER 12 According to several police reports, three thefts occurred from lockers at the H.F. Racquet Club between 6:50 and 8:35 a.m. The first victim returned to the locker room to find the combination lock from his locker and his wallet, containing two credit cards and $28 in cash, missing. The second victim returned to the locker room and saw that his keypad lock was missing and that $107 in cash was gone from within the locker. The third victim returned to the locker room to find his lock sitting unlocked on the bench next to his locker and his wallet, containing a driver's license, a Discover card, and $42 in cash, was missing. Police arrested a man responsible for stealing bikes at the Homewood Metra stop.
Christopher Hurms, 46, of 653 Frances in Phoenix was charged with felony theft after police caught him stealing a bicycle from the Homewood Metra station bike racks on Aug. 10. According to the report, an officer observed Hurms retrieve a pair of bolt cutters from his backpack before cutting the lock on a bike. Police said Hurms then took the bike and left the scene headed northbound. The officer followed Hurms, provoking him to reverse his direction of travel, according to the report. Police say they finally boxed in Hurms and he was arrested. Homewood police reports, Jan. 23-24
TUESDAY, JAN. 24 Police said they only managed to get one handcuff on a Dolton man before he fled down the I-80 expressway on foot. A car containing Edward Hall, 20, of the 100 block of Glen Lane in Riverdale, and Antoine Patterson, 20, of the 15200 block of Oak Street in Dolton, was curbed at the Halsted Street off-ramp around 7:45 p.m. following a report of a retail theft only a few blocks away. After being ordered out of the car, Patterson, a passenger, took off running, but was stopped by Thornton police several minutes later, according to the report. Patterson was charged with retail theft and two counts of resisting a peace officer. Hall was charged with felony retail theft. He’s on parole for charges related to robbery and burglary…

MONDAY, JAN. 23 A manager for a car dealership in the 3200 block of 183rd Street reported one missing tire on four of his cars. He told police that the Goodyear Wrangler and Rugged Trail tires were valued at $500 apiece and went missing between Jan. 2 and 21. SATURDAY, JAN. 21 Raymond Coppage, 37, of the 15700 block of Lexington Avenue in Harvey, was charged with retail theft. Employees of a liquor store in the 18200 block of Halsted Street told police they saw Coppage pocket an $11 bottle of vodka in his jacket around 10 a.m. and leave without paying.
