Local Man Charged With Brutal Mom-Stab Attacked Her Before: Cops

Blake Springsteen caught three domestic battery cases in connection with alleged attacks on his mother and other family members before he was charged with trying to kill her last week.

Five years before he allegedly tied up his mom, drove her to Crete, stabbed her and left her in a ditch, Blake Springsteen attacked both his mother and his 15-year-old brother in their unincorporated Cook County home just outside of Flossmoor. Springsteen, now 22, twisted his mother's arm and punched his younger brother's face in May 2008. Springsteen was also hit with a charge of criminal damage to property for vandalizing his mother's 2004 Volkswagen Passat during the same incident. Less than eight months after that attack in the 3653 W. Flossmoor Road home he still lived in until his arrest last week, Springsteen was again arrested on a domestic battery charge. This time, according to Cook County Sheriff's Police, he pushed his father, …

There is a lot of controversy over whether whether this is a true mental illness or whether we are legitimizing terrible behavior by including it as a DSM recognized illness: http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/dailybrew/study-claims-1-12-teens-intermittent-explosive-disorder-171600093.html   more ›

Attempted Murder Charge for Area Man Accused of Stabbing His Mother

Authorities say Blake Springsteen of unincorporated Cook County beat and stabbed his mother before leaving her in a ditch in Crete. He is due in Chicago bond court Saturday.

An unincorporated Cook County man accused of stuffing his mother in a car trunk and stabbing her is expected to appear in a downtown Chicago bond court on Saturday. Blake Springsteen, 22, was charged with attempted murder on Friday. Cook County authorities allege Springsteen bound his mother, drove her to Crete in the trunk of his car, stabbed her multiple times and left her in a ditch in Crete on Monday. Springsteen was apprehended Thursday night by Flossmoor police after a tip from a local resident helped end a four-day manhunt. Area police released a notice to residents Monday night that they were searching for a "dangerous" man involved in a domestic violence incident. On Thursday, police announced Springsteen's arrest. He remains in …

Sorry sis, no i don't know everything that goes on in my family but I am POSITIVE that I do conduct myself with certain morals and ethics. Sure I have a temper that comes out occasionally but it's never resulted in physical violence so I guess that HELPS others in the community. I am COMFORTED knowing that never in a million years would I or my siblings ever dreamed of doing anything like this. I…   more ›

8 Alleged Dolton Dogfighting Fans Make First Markham Court Appearance

The eight men charged with attending a dogfight in a Dolton warehouse went before a Cook County judge Tuesday.

The eight men scooped up in a raid on a dogfight at a Dolton warehouse appeared in court together Tuesday afternoon with one asking the judge to let him live among the animals on his parents' farm. Prosecutor Jack Costello refused to agree with the attorney for Anthony Fugate, 27, when she asked that her client be allowed to move back in with his parents on their Beecher farm. The attorney, Michelle Truesdale, told Judge Thomas J. Carroll that Fugate suffers from heart trouble and it is important he be permitted to return to his parents' farm. Costello argued that allowing an alleged animal abuser to reside among the horses and cats on the farm was akin to letting a man up on a weapons charge hang around his parents' gun shop, or an …
