I hope someone who voted for this guy will read this and learn a lesson. Of course, they would need to learn how to read first, then they would need to care about anyone else but themselves, then they'd have to admit that they could possibly have ever made a mistake. It might happen though, you never know!   more ›

Jesse Jackson Jr. Could See 'Significant Jail Time'

The former U.S. Representative is facing potentially serious jail time after a federal investigation into alleged misuse of campaign finances.

“Significant jail time,” is included in a potential plea deal for former Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr., Sun-Times Media reports. Federal authorities began an investigation into Jackson’s alleged misuse of campaign money in October 2012, while Jackson was on a leave of absence for mental disorders. The initial federal probe dovetailed into a second probe into Jackson’s wife, former Chicago Alderman Sandi Jackson. There is some speculation that Jackson ratted on his wife, the Sun-Times reports. Reports of Jackson’s misused finances include the purchase of a $40,000 Rolex watch and $5,000 per month to pay his wife’s consulting firm, according to the report. Sandi Jackson Resigns from Office

The wife of the recently resigned Jesse Jackson Jr. announced her decision to the mayor in a letter on Jan. 11, NBC Chicago reports.

“With a ‘heavy heart’” Alderman Sandi Jackson resigned from office Friday afternoon, NBC Chicago is reporting. As a representative of the people of the 7th Ward, I value the public trust which has been bestowed upon me and take my responsibility to safeguard the interests of my constituents seriously. Likewise, I am unapologetically a wife and a mother and I cannot deny my commitment to those most important personal responsibilities. To that end, after much consideration and while dealing with very painful family health matters I have met with my family and determined that the constituents of the 7th Ward, as well as you Mr. Mayor, and my colleagues in the City Council deserve a partner who can commit all of their energies to the business …

After losing to former Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr., former Illinois Rep. Debbie Halvorson has announced her intention to run for the set he has vacated, in a special election planned for the spring.

Former Illinois State Rep. Debbie Halvorson announced her candidacy to replace former U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr.’s newly vacant seat, according to the Chicago Tribune.
