Flossmoor Police Bust High School Candy Crime Ring

Six boys ranging in age from 14 to 16 were arrested though charges have yet to be filed in juvenile court.

Flossmoor Police arrested half a dozen H-F High School students last week, busting what they believe was a ring of candy thieves. Six boys ranging from 14 to 16 years old were arrested on the morning of Nov. 16, though charges have yet to be filed in juvenile court. Police expect varying charges for the boys, including possession of stolen property, criminal trespassing and theft. They’re accused of repeatedly stealing candy, energy drinks and other snacks from a pharmacy across the street from H-F High School and selling it to their classmates. SUNDAY, NOV. 6 A 17-year-old Flossmoor boy was charged with possession of cannabis, disobeyed stop sign and improper use of registration after he was stopped near Flossmoor Road and Sterling Avenue around 12:30 a.m., police said. According to the report, the arresting officer smelled marijuana coming from the boy’s car and found one gram in his center console. He couldn’t produce a driver’s license and was also charged with operating a vehicle outside the permitted driving time while having a graduated license, police said. Police charge a boy with attempted residential burglary and criminal damage to property, accusing him of breaking into a neighbor's home.

Flossmoor police say a 14-year-old boy’s electronic monitor failed on the afternoon of Oct. 29 when he left his home to rob his neighbor’s. He was charged as a juvenile with attempted residential burglary and criminal damage to property, police said. He's accused of kicking in the front door of a home in the 2900 block of Alexander Court and rummaging through bottles of alcohol and bank checks. The homeowner's daughter told police she was watching television on the second floor around noon when she heard a loud noise below. She thought it was her father but eventually peaked downstairs and locked eyes with a teenage boy, who turned and walked out, police said. Flossmoor Police: Teen Burglar Involved in 20 Auto Burglaries, Targeted His Own Neighborhood

A 14-year-old Flossmoor resident has admitted to going on an auto burglary spree in his neighborhood, police said.

A 14-year-old Flossmoor resident has admitted to burglarizing some 20 cars in his neighborhood and the surrounding area, police said. The teen was taken into custody Sunday by Flossmoor police after a quick response to a weekend call of suspicious activity and thanks to ongoing police work, according to Deputy Chief Michael Pulec.  The teen apparently did not smash car windows in any of the incidents. Instead, he typically entered vehicles left parked and unlocked in residential driveways, Pulec said. When the teen was caught, stolen property was found on his person and was quickly identified, Pulec said. The teen then cooperated with police and confessed to numerous burglaries in the Heather Hill area and the west side of town—crimes that…

Oh I so agree with you. Why in the heck is this kid out roaming the streets so late? This kid needs some responsibility around his home in the form of hard labor, denial of privileges and a swift kick to his behind. There really is no excuse for a 14 yo out committing crimes.   more ›
